Have we got a video? The self-loathing of Jesus in your life

Today we turn 1
Attempts at Rational Behavior celebrates its first anniversary today. That calls for some serious non-believer cake. Last year on this day AatRB began with this simple little Facebook status:
_______ is feeling better this morning...had a nice talk with God at 2am while washing dishes. Guess I should get to packing.
This status, called “God is a night-owl”, was from an old friend (um, random acquaintance?) I had reconnected with on Facebook. I was constantly in awe of the way she and several other FB friends could casually talk of their religion with no questions from anyone, whereas the moment I posted something even remotely non-religious I had dozens of comments from angry Christians. After bitching about this for several months, Attempts at Rational Behavior was born.
Since then the blog has become its own entity, acquiring it’s own Twitter account and Facebook profile. I’ve also been lucky enough to get regular readers and dozens of reader submissions which are always welcome.
Thanks everyone for a great year and I hope there are many more to come!

Finally! A new Mr. Deity!

Keyword Searches
One of my favorite things to monitor on this blog are the keyword searches. Sometimes I see some really funny or unusual ones, so I thought I’d share the latest since I’ve moved over to WordPress.
The top few searches I see consistently are lester g. moyer almanac writer (for the The farmer’s almanac was wrong? post), glenn beck liberty university (for the Glenn Beck & Liberty University: perfect together? post), jamie hyneman atheist (probably leading to the Adam Savage: Food for the Eagle post), and some variation of tim minchin pope song lyrics (we all know what this is about). Theses few phrases are apparently what my blog is most popular for.
But there are some who come to Attempts at Rational Behavior searching for the answers to life’s hard questions. For example, people have landed here asking the following questions,
should you give god an ultimatium?
why was bc changed to bce and ad changed to ce?
why havent i read the bible?
why did glenn beck become a mormon?
who is the bloated bigot?
where is america mentioned in the bible?
what’s up with trails in sky?
what is fema?
what is adam savage’s religion?
what exactly is a dictatorship?
what does it mean’ what an exciting life you lead’?
what did carl sagan invent?
is shepard smith gay?
how could dictatorship be avoided?
Then of course there are the fetish seekers and the relationship challenged…
fellatio and catholicism
christians fisting
christianity and erotica
aarb sex
never knew about kissing
judaism and necrophilia
giving up after the first date
And then, the just plain bizarre ones…
five senses conspiricy
benjamin franklin versus sarah palin
allergic to rocks
adam savage hitler
ufo exorcism
translate
sylvia browne and glenn beck
stomping on the floor
stick to god
shit
newfangled ideas
nazi biodynamics
justin bieber praying
jamie hyneman abortion
illumunati behavior
three earthquakes in 2010 is proof christ is coming back
serving god and needing money
I truly hope they all found what they were looking for.
This is the kind of blasphemy I find unacceptable
I found this over at LOL God and I am very upset by it. Ikea is the most wonderful place on Earth, it should not be associated with silly sky fairies or doomsday messiahs. Blasphemy!!!
